Don Bosco Ideal Inaugurated Back
Don Bosco Institute of Integral Design of Ecology, Experience and Learning (DB IDEAL) was inaugurated at Gulbarga on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco, on August 16, 2015. The institute was inaugurated at a webinar facilitated via the website,

Fr. Ivo Coelho, Councilor for Formation, Rome, virtually inaugurated and dedicated the project. Addressing the gathering he said, “The ecological dimension of the project is of utmost relevance as we are all connected to the whole of creation. On behalf of the Rector Major I dedicate this project to the benefit of everyone, especially, poor young people across the globe”.

Fr. Jose Koyickal, Vice Provincial, Salesian Province of Bangalore addressing the gathering on behalf of the Provincial, said that Don Bosco was always on the vanguard of progress. Fr. George Kollashani, in step with Don Bosco who dared to reach out to those on the peripheries of the society, is exploring new avenues and pathways. “Today I feel a great joy as a new venture is introduced in the diocese today. It is a whole new concept and I wish all success” said, Dr. Robert Miranda, Bishop, Gulburga, after the blessing and inaugural prayer.

Fr. Thomas Anchukandam, former Provincial, Salesian Province of Bangalore spoke on the occasion and congratulated Fr. Saji Anachalil, Executive Director, Don Bosco, Gulbarga and Fr. George Kollashani, Director, Don Bosco IDEAL, for the innovative initiative.

The new venture that has an institutional setting, DB IDEAL, and a network setting E-Mandala is being designed as an ecological knowledge hub to assist the creation of models of intervention for those on the fringes.

Sharmila Sinha, Ecologist and Environmental Scientist, Delhi, Biju Varghese, Dubai, Anto Prabhu, Bangalore, Nagraj, Sirsi, Tumkur, Fr. Stany Lobo, Vicar General, Gulbarga Diocese, Fr. Santhosh Bapu, Director, Orbit, Humnabad, Fr. Prasad, Project Director, Don Bosco PYaR, Gulbarga, project staff and students participated in the programme.
