Operation Smile At Kalaburagi Back
‘Operation Smile’, a campaign to paint a smile on the faces of children by rescuing them from abusive situations and people, Don Bosco PYaR joined with Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Labour Department and like-minded NGOs and began a week-long rescue operation on February 4, 2016. Begging children, children on the street, child labourers and children working in brick kilns were rescued and produced before CWC. Appropriate and sustainable measures and plans for the rehabilitation of the rescued children were choked out by the CWC.

The rescue operation that began from Railway Station, Kalaburagi, covered Central Bus Stand, Kalaburagi, Super Market, Gunj Area, KBN Dharga, Sharana Basaveshwara Temple, Shahabad Road, Sharana Sirsagi, Aland, Afzalpur, Jewargi, Wadi and Shahabad. The week-long campaign resulted in saving over ninety children from exploitive environs. The team was spearheaded by KM Satish Kumar, Circle Inspector, Brahmpur, Kalaburagi, Basavaraj, SJPU, members of the CWC, JJB, DCPU, and representing staff members from Margadarshi Society, Wadi, Vishwaseva Mission, Kalaburagi and Samajika Parivartana Jana Andolan, Kalaburagi.
