IGP Pledges to Protect Child Rights Back
Children’s Day was celebrated on 14 November 2014 at Don Bosco PYaR, Gulbarga. At the inaugural address, Dr. Suresh Kunhi Mohammed IPS (IGP, North-eastern Range, Gulbarga), citing the examples of Prime Minister Naredra Modi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that despite hailing from humble backgrounds, anyone with a dream and determination can certainly scale great heights. He added that the Police Department will always strive to protect the rights of children and become increasingly child friendly. He led the child rights protection oath taking ceremony after the inaugural address. “Children, you should stand up for your rights”, said Bharatesh, Legal Cum Probationary Officer, District Child Protection Unit, Gulbarga. On this occasion a drawing competition was organized on child rights and prizes were awarded to the winners. Cultural programmes, sports and games marked the day.

Sr. Lourd Mary (Member, Juvenile Justice Board, Gulbarga), Gokul (Don Bosco PYaR), Deepika (Don Bosco, Bablad), Fr. Prasad (Project Director, Don Bosco PYaR), student volunteers from nearby colleges, staff members and over seventy children from the rehabilitation centers were present for the programme.
