// ABOUT PYAR
Gulbarga is one of the most backward districts of Karnataka with low per capita income. The district is also backward in education with very low literacy rate in the State. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people. Children are forced to work at a very early age because of poverty at home.
On 7th June 2002, under the able leadership of Fr. K. J. Joseph, the Don Bosco Society started its work for the rehabilitation of child labourers, school dropouts and street children, in a rented building at Gulbarga Initially the concentration was on starting the evening tuition centres to educate and empower the school drop outs and working children. In 2003 a plot on the Naganahally Road was bought and it was built and inaugurated on November 10th 2004.
This centre accommodates street children, school dropouts, child labourers and other young at risk. More centres were opened for the rehabilitation of child labourers and school drop outs in differnt parts of the district. On 8th December 2013 a new rehabilitation centre for young at risk was opened at Bablad village near Gulbarga. It was registered as a society in 2003.
